How to Organize a Wet Lab

If you have any questions or run into any issues, please email the SAVMA VP-Elect, Mollie Davies (modavies@ucdavis.edu)

  1. Come up with an idea!
  • Every club has a different list of contacts, but feel free to get creative. Wet labs are a great opportunity to try stuff that we can’t get in class.
  • We strongly recommend collaborating with another club whose interests overlap with the wet lab you want to plan.
  1. Determine a date.
  • Check the calendars for major student events that may conflict (exams, other club wet labs, dinner talks, etc.)
  • Check the availability of
    • Your guest
    • Your faculty – ALL wet labs require a faculty member to be present
  1. Determine a location.
  • VIPER > Schedule > Room Reservations
  • Available buildings include MPT, Valley, Gourley, VetMed 3A, and VetMed3B
  1. BEFORE the wet lab
  1. DURING the wet lab
  • Check attendees Google Form confirmation email to make sure they filled out the waivers/forms
  • Have attendees sign the SAVMA Attendance Sheet – ALL wet labs
  1. AFTER the wet lab
  • Email (modavies@ucdavis.edu) OR turn in hard copy to Mollie Davies' homeroom c/o 2027 mailbox
    • SAVMA Attendance Sheet
    • Proof of Insurance

ALL wet labs need:

  • To be added to the SAVMA calendar
  • A faculty member present
  • Insurance
  • Individual Liability Waivers
  • SAVMA Attendance sheet
  • If you are using live animals or pets, you also need to have CVPAA and Pet Waiver forms.

If you have any questions or run into any issues please email SAVMA VP-Elect.
